Finding the right Czech vignette sales points before your trip can save time and help you avoid unnecessary detours at the border. Whether you prefer to buy your Czech vignette online, through an authorised reseller, a third-party reseller, at a self-service kiosk or via the official mobile app, this guide brings together all the available options for you in one place.
Since the Czech Republic switched from physical stickers to an electronic vignette system in 2021, buying a vignette has become more flexible, whether you’re purchasing online before departure or using sales points near the German, Austrian or Polish borders.

How to Buy a Czech Vignette: Five Channels
There are several ways to buy a Czech e-vignette in 2026:
- Czechvignette.cz — that’s us, the most reliable third-party vendor with instant vignette activation, 25 languages, a dedicated help centre and over 15 local payment options.
- The official portal edalnice.cz — the most direct option for Czech drivers.
- Authorised online resellers — offer the same vignette but operate independently, often adding extra payment methods or customer support, which can suit international drivers looking for convenience when searching where to buy a Czech vignette.
- Self-service kiosks at Czech petrol stations and service areas — allow quick, on-the-spot purchases without needing to plan ahead for those already on the road.
- The official mobile app — provides a streamlined option for repeat travellers, storing vehicle details so the vignette can be bought in just a few steps.
Importantly, there are no vignette sales points in the Czech Republic at physical border crossings. The purchase options listed above make up the complete range of available options, so anything claiming additional “border sales points” outside them should be treated with caution.
Regardless of where you purchase your vignette, it’s recorded in the same national Czech electronic toll system and is equally valid for travel on Czech motorways.
The vignette itself is identical across all channels. The main difference is in the purchasing experience: authorised resellers, such as ourselves, offer multilingual websites, additional payment options and customer support, while official sales channels are operated directly by the Czech authorities.
Czech vignette pricing is standardised by vehicle type and duration (including 1-day, 10-day, monthly and annual options) — for more information, you can read a full breakdown of Czech vignette prices and validity tiers.
Buying Online: Official Portal vs Authorised and Third-Party Resellers
Buying a Czech e-vignette online is done through two main routes: the official state portal edalnice.cz and authorised / third-party private resellers.
The official portal is operated by the Czech road authority and sells the digital vignette directly in CZK. The interface is available in multiple languages including English, German and Polish. You can choose a start date in advance or activate the vignette immediately at checkout.
Authorised resellers or third-party resellers are private companies that sell the same official vignette product through their own checkout systems, usually with pricing in the main European currencies. They often add convenience features such as multi-vehicle baskets, reminders and simplified payment options for international drivers. As a private reseller, we also provide this service, with:
- an order form in 20+ languages;
- 15+ local payment methods including PayPal, Revolut Pay, Blik, EPS and iDeal/Wero;
- a multilingual help centre with a ticketing system;
- near-instant delivery in under 1–2 minutes.
The vignette itself is identical to the official portal and registered in the same national database. Keep in mind, both channels issue the same digital vignette, which is recorded in the national database and automatically verified via ANPR cameras on Czech motorways. There is no difference in enforcement or validity.
Because both systems are official or licensed, pricing differences only reflect service fees, not differences in the vignette itself.
How to buy online: step by step
- Choose your validity tier — 1-day, 10-day, monthly or annual.
- Enter the licence plate exactly as printed.
- Enter the vehicle category and country of registration.
- Choose a start date — “now” or a future date.
- Pay by card and check your email confirmation. Activation is typically immediate.
In-Country Sales Points: Petrol Stations and Service Areas
In-country Czech vignette sales point purchases are mainly located at petrol stations and motorway service areas, where self-service e-vignette terminals are widely available across the country.
Major petrol station vignette sales point chains include Globus, MOL, OMV, Shell and Benzina, all of which typically host self-service kiosks at larger forecourts and service hubs. Most major D-roads are covered, especially the D1 between Prague and Brno, the D5 towards the German border and the D2 towards Slovakia.
The kiosk process is simple: select a language, enter the vehicle registration number, choose the validity period and start date, then pay by card. The vignette is then activated instantly in the national system and linked to the vehicle registration. We made a video walkthrough during our field trip on how to use a Czech vignette vending machine.
It’s also important to note that former physical-sticker outlets such as tobacconists (trafika) and Czech Post offices no longer sell motorway vignettes. Under the current system, all valid purchases are digital and handled through official online channels or in-country self-service terminals.
Buying Before You Cross: Sales Points in Germany, Austria and Poland
Border crossing sales point options for Czech vignettes mainly exist through online channels rather than physical retail points at the border. For a full overview of where you can enter the country, see our guide to Czech border crossings.
- Germany — the key option is the ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club), which offers Czech e-vignettes online to both members and non-members. This is a digital purchase only, not a physical-sticker service. ADAC is useful for drivers who prefer buying through a familiar provider before entering the Czech Republic.
- Austria — Czech vignettes can be purchased online via major motoring clubs such as ÖAMTC and ARBÖ. These channels operate as online services and are separate from Austria’s motorway authority, ASFINAG, which primarily manages Austrian vignettes and toll products rather than Czech ones.
- Poland — there is no comparable motoring-club retail channel for Czech vignettes. The most reliable option is to purchase online before crossing the border, either via the official portal or an authorised reseller.
For UK drivers, there are no physical vignette sales points in the Czech Republic at all, and you must buy online before travel.
Some vehicles are exempt from the Czech vignette requirement depending on category, which may remove the need to purchase altogether — see our guide to Czech vignette exemptions for full details.
What Changed in 2021: From Sticker to Digital
Until the end of 2020, the Czech vignette (dálniční známka) was a paper sticker bought at thousands of physical outlets, including petrol stations, post offices, tobacconists and border kiosks. From 1 January 2021, the system changed to a fully digital vignette linked to the vehicle’s registration plate via the official edalnice.cz portal.
Since then, enforcement has been carried out automatically using ANPR cameras on Czech motorways and the physical sticker is no longer used. As a result, there are no longer any sticker booths at Czech border crossings or roadside entry points, and purchases are handled entirely online or through authorised channels.
That shift means many drivers now simply complete the process before they travel. If you’re wondering where to buy a Czech vignette and you’d rather not look for a kiosk on arrival, you can buy online before you leave home, with confirmation arriving within minutes and activation set for the day you cross.
