Buying a Czech e-vignette online is done through two main routes: the official state portal edalnice.cz and authorised / third-party private resellers.
The official portal is operated by the Czech road authority and sells the digital vignette directly in CZK. The interface is available in multiple languages including English, German and Polish. You can choose a start date in advance or activate the vignette immediately at checkout.
Authorised resellers or third-party resellers are private companies that sell the same official vignette product through their own checkout systems, usually with pricing in the main European currencies. In-country Czech vignette sales point purchases are mainly located at petrol stations and motorway service areas, where self-service e-vignette terminals are widely available across the country.
Major petrol station vignette sales point chains include Globus, MOL, OMV, Shell and Benzina, all of which typically host self-service kiosks at larger forecourts and service hubs. Most major D-roads are covered, especially the D1 between Prague and Brno, the D5 towards the German border and the D2 towards Slovakia.
The kiosk process is simple: select a language, enter the vehicle registration number, choose the validity period and start date, then pay by card. The vignette is then activated instantly in the national system and linked to the vehicle registration. It’s also important to note that former physical-sticker outlets such as tobacconists (trafika) and Czech Post offices no longer sell motorway vignettes. Under the current system, all valid purchases are digital and handled through official online channels or in-country self-service terminals.
Buying Before You Cross: Sales Points in Germany, Austria and Poland

- Germany — the key option is the ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club), which offers Czech e-vignettes online to both members and non-members. This is a digital purchase only, not a physical-sticker service. ADAC is useful for drivers who prefer buying through a familiar provider before entering the Czech Republic.
- Austria — Czech vignettes can be purchased online via major motoring clubs such as ÖAMTC and ARBÖ. These channels operate as online services and are separate from Austria’s motorway authority, ASFINAG, which primarily manages Austrian vignettes and toll products rather than Czech ones.
- Poland — there is no comparable motoring-club retail channel for Czech vignettes. The most reliable option is to purchase online before crossing the border, either via the official portal or an authorised reseller.
For UK drivers, there are no physical vignette sales points in the Czech Republic at all, and you must buy online before travel.

What Changed in 2021: From Sticker to Digital
Until the end of 2020, the Czech vignette (dálniční známka) was a paper sticker bought at thousands of physical outlets, including petrol stations, post offices, tobacconists and border kiosks. From 1 January 2021, the system changed to a fully digital vignette linked to the vehicle’s registration plate via the official edalnice.cz portal.
Since then, enforcement has been carried out automatically using ANPR cameras on Czech motorways and the physical sticker is no longer used. As a result, there are no longer any sticker booths at Czech border crossings or roadside entry points, and purchases are handled entirely online or through authorised channels.
That shift means many drivers now simply complete the process before they travel.
